Now in its fourth year, RiverArts’ Paint the Town will take place Thursday, April 25 through Sunday, April 28. This year the event has grown from 35 to 55 artists. Also new this year is the expansion of the painting area for the first three days. Artists have been invited to paint historic Chestertown streetscapes, river views and other town vistas as well as anywhere in beautiful Kent County. All artists are expected to paint “en plein air” without the use of photographs. On Saturday, April 27, there will be a “Wet Paint Show and Sale” at the RiverArts Gallery, 315 High Street, Suite 106. All work will be framed and organized by artist. Patrons will get to view the show at 4:30 for a sneak preview and then doors will open to the public from 5-7pm. The theme of the Wet Paint Show and Sale is “Springtime in Paris”.
On Sunday, April 28 there will be a “Quick Draw” event. Artists will paint in downtown historic Chestertown from 9-11am. At 11:15am the morning’s artwork will be lined up on easels for display and judging in Fountain Park
For those that miss this event, they can still see much of the work at the RiverArts Gallery for its May show, Second Look, May 3 – June 1. For more information go to chestertownriverarts.org.
