On Thursday, October 5, 2017 at approximately 6:51 am, Troopers assigned to the Maryland State Police-Centreville Barrack responded to Maryland Route 291 at River Park Road, Millington, Kent County for a reported school bus accident. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Ford Taurus, being operated by a 17 year old driver, struck the rear of a stopped school bus. The school bus was occupied by 38 children at the time of the collision. There were a total of 12 children reporting minor injuries and were subsequently transported by ambulance to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. Three additional children were later taken by guardians to be seen at the hospital. As of this post, all children have been released from the hospital. It is believed fog may have been a contributing factor. The at-fault 17 year old was charged for following too closely.
