Leo Johnson – Shoreman of the Week

Freshman swimmer Leo Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Jemicy Upper School) is this week’s Shoreman of the Week. Johnson became the Shoremen’s third-fastest swimmer ever in the 1000 freestyle during a 153-52 win over St. Mary’s Friday.

Johnson’s winning time in the 1000 freestyle clocked in at 10:04.49, a time which would have stood as the school record as recently as four years ago and now places him as the team’s third-fastest swimmer ever in the event. He also won the 100 freestyle in 49.52. Johnson also swam the anchor leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay, which finished in 1:30.98.

Emily Thiemann – Shorewoman of the Week

Junior basketball player Emily Thiemann (Wilmington, Del./Padua Academy) is this week’s Shorewoman of the Week. Thiemann was named to the All-Tournament Team as the Shorewomen opened their season 1-1 at the Dan Greene Memorial Invitational.

Thiemann averaged 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game over the course of the two games. She shot 5-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from the foul line en route to 14 points and nine rebounds in a 60-58 loss to host St. Mary’s on Saturday.
