KCPS on Incidence at Kent County Middle School

At 10:13am on November 15, 2017 Kent County Public Schools put out this information regarding the Kent County Middle School:

As busses were arriving at the middle school, a student received an anonymous text message alleging a gun threat. The student called 911 from the bus to report the threat and emergency dispatch contacted the school. Students were held on the busses until law enforcement arrived. Authorized personnel searched and law enforcement scanned all students and all student property to ensure no contraband was brought onto school premises. In addition, law enforcement and school personnel swept each bus and the school building.

Students were sent to their homeroom and sheltered in place until the process was complete. Nothing was found; however, law enforcement will continue to maintain a presence at the school for the remainder of the day.
