18th Annual 4-H Toy Drive to Hold a Teddy Bear Toss at December 5, 2017 Basketball Game at KCHS

This past weekend I was talking with a couple of 4-H parents and they could hardly believe that it is now the 18th year for their annual Kent County 4H Toy Drive. The first drive began in 1998 when a group of 4-H’ers, in what is now the Junior Leadership Council, put together a service project that would help children. It was decided to do a Toy Drive. The following year it was a food drive. With the realization that there were many children in the county who didn’t receive toys on Christmas morning for the third year, and every year since, they have had a Toy Drive. In 2009 the 4-H partnered with the Lions Clubs of Kent County. Continue reading

Kent School to Host Secondary School Fair

On Monday, October 2, 2017 Kent School will host a secondary school fair for students in grades seven and eight and their parents or guardians. The event will be held in Kent School’s library from 7:00 pm through 8:30 pm. The fair is free and open to the public. Several independent schools, both day schools and boarding will participate. A partial list of participating schools includes The Gunston School, Severn School, Mercersburg Academy, St. Andrew’s School, West Nottingham Academy, Madeira School, Westtown School, St. James School and Woodberry Forest School.
